Waiting for Love
Even you, Cupid, the pagan Eros! You deprived me of your gaze.
And whom should I pray to, Aphrodite, can you help me? Save me from loneliness! Oh earthly gods, responsible for love! Why does my life seem to you unworthy of love?
I wasn't bad at school, not a swot at all, and not shy in general! But why, girls, did you not give me looks of love? And walked with others?
Angel of love, why did you pass me by? Could it be that Christ has left me without a second half?
Even you, Cupid, the pagan Eros! You deprived me of your gaze.
And whom should I pray to, Aphrodite, can you help me? Save me from loneliness! Oh earthly gods, responsible for love! Why does my life seem to you unworthy of love?
And so the graduation passed, followed by the status of a student. I met you, you were sitting opposite. And it seemed you weren’t against me. We met, you said sorry!
And a week later, you were already with him!
Student years were a dump for love, they passed for me. Not one of the girls became that same Aphrodite. Lonely watching how you joyfully celebrate your graduation!
And it’s as if God refused me, if indeed God refused. Then what about the other gods? I remained alone!
Now work has caught me, I’m entering adult life! And there’s a blow to my heart, there’s my colleague. I fell madly for her!
Aphrodite, I pray, Jesus, I ask you to turn on the charms of love! Cupid and Angel of Love, now be my friends and do not shy away from love for me!
And so this office romance ended, broken as if caught in some hellish trap!
Alone again, once more a hermit I walk the street!
Into an empty apartment, into empty dreams.
I went to church, lit candles. My God Jesus, forgive me, Aphrodite, forgive me. And you winged friends, Cupid and Angel of Love, don’t be angry, just help me.
And now I stand on the street, I see how you want to warm your hands against the winter cold. Without a second thought, I give you my gloves. You glance at me, we say our names to each other. Now I know, this is my love!
Don’t ask for love or gifts! Heaven knows when you should meet.
