Just the two of us sitting here
I drink — don't smoke, you smoke — don't drink.
I don't want anything anymore —
I'm fed up to the teeth with the lies of our life.
You take the guitar in your hands,
And you just sing, sing about it all.
We are so unlike each other,
Different views on life,
We pull our own weight in different ways,
But we share a single root,
And the common denominator in our life is one,
But with each year it's tending to zero.
To reset our life to zero —
What could be simpler?
They extract all the roots from us
And divide us as they please.
But we don't give up:
We're not that easy to take.
We still live by our past,
And the roots of our life are stronger:
Infinity itself is embedded in them.
And so it doesn't matter what we smoke or drink,
When it's just the two of us sitting here.
To reset our life to zero —
What could be simpler?
They extract all the roots from us
And divide us as they please.
But we don't give up:
We're not that easy to take.
