But if you look closely, there are important nuances between them — both in what exactly is "erased", and in the final goal, and in how it is experienced. I have selected key points of comparison.

• How is the "Great Nothing" understood? In Lermontov's meditation, "Nothing" is not just the absence of forms, but the space in which åñòüyou are, your eternal nature. Focus on personal experience: "you are this Great Nothing." In Buddhism, the focus is that all forms are empty of self-existence, not that "I" is emptiness. In Advaita, "Nothing" as such is not the goal — the goal is to realize one's identity with Brahman. The goal of the practice. In Buddhism, the realization of emptiness leads to the destruction of attachments and liberation from suffering (nirvana). In Advaita — to moksha, the realization of oneness with the absolute. Lermontov's goal is rather to awaken the "Heart" (in his terminology) — the ability to perceive the world through ethical intuition, and not just through the mind, and live in accordance with it.
• The role of concepts. In classical Buddhist and Advaitic practices, great importance is attached to philosophical understanding (for example, the doctrine of dependent origination in Buddhism or the analysis of the maya illusion in Advaita) as a support for meditation. In Lermontov's approach, the emphasis is shifted to direct experience and "heartfelt" understanding, rather than deep philosophical elaboration of concepts.
Conclusion
You can say this: Lermontov took from the Eastern traditions the very impulse to go beyond the ego and dual constructions. But he reinterpreted it in his own way: I shifted my focus from an ontological analysis (whether there is an eternal basis or not) to a living, "heartfelt" experience of unity and how it changes everyday ethics. Therefore, there are parallels, but the essence and accents differ.
