Павел Суровой. Song of Solomon 1 english

If only you would touch me
With the sweetness of your kiss
For the tenderness you give
Outshining sparkling wine and bliss
Your fragrant oils are flowing
Like la-ba-ra and incense rare
Like myrrh's bitter whisper
Like a mountain wind in air
So wondrous is your name
It trembles soft and deep
Draw me close and we shall run
Where royal chambers sleep
Together we will hasten
Leave the burning world behind
Enter into shadowed love
Where you shelter we will find

Remembering your presence
More fragrant than rich wine
For to me, you are the only
A gaze informed divine
In justice and in longing
I love you, gentle one
The daughters of Jerusalem
Grew jealous, Solomon
Not for your beauty only
But for mine reflected there
Like Kedar's tents I wandered
Yet with hidden splendor fair
Do not gaze upon my darkness
Though sun has marked my skin
For I am fairer, silk and tents
As summer days within
My mother's sons in anger
Sent me: vineyards all to keep
Yet my own I could not guard
Nor its tender harvest reap
My beloved, in the daylight
You have stolen all my peace
Tell me where you lead your flock
Where their wandering finds release
Why should I go veiled and seeking
Like one lost beneath the skies
Answer me, my gentle singer
Do not let your lover sighs
You reply, O fairest maiden
If you do not know the way
Following the sheep's own footsteps
They will lead where I will stay
I will clothe you in fine garments
Silk and velvet rich and bright
Like a mare in Pharaoh's chariot
You shall pleasure in my sight
Golden pendants will adorn you
Silver flashing in their grace
And a necklace like a swan's neck
Will embrace your tender face
While the king reclines at table
Spikenard and incense fill his chamber
Perfumed dreams his spirit keep
