Павел Суровой. Song of Solomon 2 english

I am but a saffron of the plain
A lily in the valleys grown
My love among the maidens fair
Is like a lily among thorns alone
My beloved among the young
Is like an apple tree in the wood
How I long to rest in his shade
How sweet to taste his fruit so good

He led me to the house of feast
Above me raised love's banner high
Strengthen me with raisin cakes
With apples let me be revived
For I am faint with love's desire
His left hand rests beneath my head
His right arm holds me tenderly
O daughters of Jerusalem
My gazelles and deer, I plead
Do not awaken loving me
Until it wakes itself and free

I hear my beloved's voice
Behold he comes with bounding grace
Leaping over hills and mountains
Swift as deer in forest space
My love is like a gazelle
Or like a young stag, strong and great
There he stands behind our wall
Looking through the windows' lights
Gazing softly through the lattice
Calling me into his sight
Arise, my love, my lovely one
Come away, come walk with me
See the winter now has passed
Gone the rain so endlessly

Flowers bloom across the earth
Pruning time has now begun
And the cooing of the dove
Echoes where our fields lie warm
Figs are forming on the tree
Finds in blossom, scent the air
Rise, my love, my lovely one
Come away, so bright and fair
O my dove within the rocks
Hidden in the mountainside
Let me see your gentle face
Let me hear your voice, my bride
For your voice is sweet as song
And your form is beauty's pride

Catch the foxes, little ones
Those that spoil the vineyards fair
For our vines are now in bloom
Guard the fruit with tender care
My beloved, he is mine
And I am his in love's embrace
He who feeds among the lilies
Finds in them his resting place
Until the breeze of evening comes
And shadows flee the fading light
Turn, my love, return to me
Like a gazelle in swiftest flight
Or like a young stag on the hills
That keep us parted through the night
