Павел Суровой. Song of Solomon 3 english
I searched for him with longing heart, yet found him not through silent hours
I will rise and roam the streets, through squares and ways of the city wide
I'll seek the one my soul adores
I searched, but he still won't know my love
The watchmen found me as they walked, guarding the city through the night
And have you seen him whom I love? I asked them in my restless plight
Scarce had I passed beyond their gaze, when I beheld my heart still mine
My coat, I'd long kept and held in pass, were now released from my side
Until I brought him to my mother's house, into a chamber warm and bright
O daughters fair of Jerusalem, by the gazelles and gentle deer, I say:
Do not awaken loving me, until it wakes in its own way
What is this coming from the wild, like rising columns formed of smoke?
Perfumed with myrrh and frankincense, with spices merchants once evoke
Behold, it is King Solomon's couch, with sixty warriors gathered near
The mighty men of Israel's gating, shining, blood-all strong and clear
It bears a sword upon his side, skilled in war and watchful still
Guiding through the darkest night, the king from every hidden mill
Behold, the litter of the king, which Solomon himself has made
From Lebanon's most noble wood, in strength and beauty well displayed
It bears large shining silver, its base of gold in splendor set
Its seated royal purple tryst, with love by Zion's daughters met
Come forth, O daughters of fair Zion, look upon the king with joy
Crowned with the wreath his mother wore, on the day of his delight
On the day his heart rejoiced, in love's most radiant sacred light
