The Unified Educational Process as an Ontological Paradigm for 21st-Century Education: A Cultural-Philosophical and Cognitive Analysis

Abstract

The Unified Educational Process [UEP], developed by Vyacheslav Kazarin, is a unique, author-developed system of education based on the ontological principle of the wholeness of the world, the fractal structure of cognition, body-cognitive integration and professional-spatial didactics. This article analyses the UEP as a cultural phenomenon, a philosophical system, a cognitive model and a pedagogical practice, comparing it with leading trends in contemporary humanities thought. It is demonstrated that the UEP forms a new paradigm of education that surpasses traditional disciplinary, competence-based and constructivist models in terms of the depth of its anthropology, ontological wholeness and cultural significance.

1. INTRODUCTION: THE NEED FOR A NEW PARADIGM
IN EDUCATION

The modern school is undergoing a systemic crisis:
- fragmentation of disciplines,
- loss of cultural function,
- declining motivation,
- a disconnect between the physical, emotional and cognitive,
- the loss of the spatial and ritual components of education.

In these circumstances, the UEP represents an alternative paradigm based not on the modernisation of the existing school system, but on a change in the ontological foundation of education.

The UEP is not a methodology, but a new form of human existence within the educational reality.

2. ONTOLOGICAL FOUNDATIONS OF THE UEP

2.1. The wholeness of the world as a pedagogical principle = The Compositional Universum

The UEP is based on the following thesis:
- The world is one; disciplines are its modes.

This proposition has direct parallels with:
• phenomenology [Husserl, Merleau-Ponty],
• fundamental ontology [Heidegger],
• cultural hermeneutics [Gadamer],
• structural anthropology [L;vi-Strauss].

UEP transforms this philosophical principle into a lesson structure, where:
• disciplines are not separated,
• space is part of the content,
• the body is an organ of cognition,
• action is a form of understanding.

2.2. The Lesson as an Ontological Act

The Era-Centric Lesson — the central form of UEP — constitutes an event of being, rather than an educational operation. This makes UEP the first educational system in which the lesson possesses ontological status.

3. THE COGNITIVE ARCHITECTURE OF UEP

3.1. The Spiral of Knowledge as a Fractal Model of Thinking

The Spiral of Knowledge is a fractally cyclical structure that provides for:
• movement between the whole and the part,
• non-linear development,
• age-related dynamics,
• integration of modes.

This model corresponds to:
• the theory of non-linear systems [Prigogine],
• fractal cognitive dynamics [Capra],
• contemporary research into the development of thinking.

3.2. Bodily-cognitive integration [KZOZH]

KZOZH is a dual discipline combining:
• a core area of knowledge,
• a bodily, emotional or artistic modality.

This makes the UEP one of the few systems that implement embodiment theory in pedagogy.

4. PROFESSIONAL SPATIAL
DIDACTICS

4.1. Space as part of the curriculum

The UEP regards space as:
• a professional environment,
• a cultural mode,
• a cognitive tool.

The lesson space is:
• a laboratory,
• a workshop,
• a studio,
• an expedition,
• an open field.

This corresponds to:
- Lefebvre [the production of space],
- ecological anthropology,
- ritual anthropology.

4.2. The examination as a cultural-spatial ritual

The UEP examination:
• takes place in the open air,
• the location is chosen by the student,
• is an act of self-presentation,
• shapes subjectivity.

This reintroduces ritual into the structure of education.

5. ANTHROPOLOGY OF THE UEP

5.1. The human being as a multimodal structure

UEP integrates:
• the body,
• emotion,
• intellect,
• culture.

This creates a new anthropology of education that transcends:
• humanistic models,
• competence-based approaches,
• constructivism.

5.2. Research-oriented subjectivity

In the UEP, the learner is not an object of learning, but rather:
• a researcher,
• an author,
• an observer,
• a cultural subject.

This shapes a new type of personality, capable of independent cultural action.

6. THE UEP IN THE CONTEXT OF GLOBAL PEDAGOGY

6.1. Comparison with leading systems

System                Differences from the UEP

Montessori
- no ontology, no fractal structure
Waldorf
- no professional spaces
Reggio Emilia
- no body-cognitive integration
Finnish model
- no ontological integrity
STEAM
- no cultural anthropology

The UEP surpasses them in terms of:
• depth of anthropology,
• ontological structure,
• cultural integrity,
• cognitive architecture.

7. EUP AS A CULTURAL PARADIGM OF THE 21ST CENTURY

UEP shapes:
- a new cultural ethic,
- a new structure of time,
-    a new structure of space,
- a new structure of action,
- a new form of subjectivity.

The Unified Educational Process is a cultural paradigm, not a pedagogical system.

It has the potential to transform:
- schools,
- culture,
- public consciousness,
- the anthropology of the future.

8. Conclusion

The Unified Educational Process is one of the most significant cultural projects of the 21st century. It unites philosophy, anthropology, cognitive science, architecture, pedagogy and cultural ethics into a single ontological system. The UEP does not modernise the school — it creates a new educational reality in which the individual exists as a researcher, author and bearer of culture.

The UEP is a new form of human existence in the world, and it is precisely this that defines humanity’s place in global culture and science.
