Perhaps You Still Love Me

The raindrops trickle down my hand,
And fall in silence to the ground.
My soul is twisted, torn and strained,
As monstrous dreams begin to sound...

It is not quite as dark as then,
Yet I recall those words once said,
Those dreams... And love grows cold again,
Within a chasm, dark and dead.

I chase you through the fading light,
My silent hand outstretched to you.
A cry upon my lips, so white:
"My love, please stop! Don't leave me too!

Stay here with me, at last, I plead,
Have mercy, spare my aching heart.
Remove this crown of thorns I bear,
And draw the thorn from deep within.

Take it away... And you and I
Could share a little time once more.
Perhaps beneath the moonlit sky
We'd fall upon the earth once more?

Perhaps you'll think of me again,
And kindle passion long forgot?
Perhaps by fire's golden flame
You'll keep me from oblivion's lot?

Perhaps you'll come back to my side,
And take one step upon the snow?
Perhaps you'll wait until the day
I suddenly must leave below?

Perhaps you love me, even now,
Though truth remains concealed from view?
I still believe, I hope, I fight
For tenderness in eyes so true.
