This is a legendary Arabian settlement associated with Iram of the Pillars mentioned in the Holy Quran.
It was called "the Atlantis of the Sands" by Lawrence of Arabia.Its name is Ubar . The ancient city of Ubar
has been found in southern Oman using pictures taken from space by shuttle Challenger.
This may seem strange and unexpected, but this city in the south of Arabia is also related to the history of the Russian people. The name of the city even became a part of a Russian proverb, mentioned in ancient Russian chronicle of the 11th century. Moreover, in a number of Slavic languages this word literally means “giants”.
